4th breeding of the 5th generation - 14/12/20

All four pairs successfully hatched fry on 14/12/20. The four pairs were: 1) 6202 Blue 8R x Blue 4R 2) 6205 Blue 4R x Yellow copper 2R 3) 62012 Turquoise 4R x Red marble 2R 4) 62018 Red 4R x Red 2R. The 4th pair has fewer fry, while 2nd pair has many fry. I really excited n feel 'cant' wait to see the fry become adult especially 3rd n 4th pairs.

3rd breeding of 5th generation betta - 11/11/20

I tried to breed betta every month. Hopefully i manage to get the betta i desired through selective breeding. My immediate target was to get white colour n 'more' red colour betta. I have succeeded in breeding 3 pairs out of 4 pairs. The pairs were: 1) White-Green big caudal 4R x Green-red marble 2R (failed) 2) White-blue 4R x Blue 4R 3) Green-red-White 4R x Red copper 4R 4) Monster 6206 4R x Copper 2R

Another round of breeding 5th generation

I couldn't help to want more beautiful betta. So, i selected four pairs of betta : 1) 6205.4R x Blue.4R 2) 6207.8R x Monster.4R 3) 6206.4R x White w Blue tail.2R 4) 6208.8R x Green.4R . On 11/10/20,

I was delighted that there were so many fry for the first pair. But, i was a bit disappointed that the third pair was unsuccessful.

My record sale

I put up my most beautiful betta for sale in Trade Me at nzd 78 (Trade Me charged about 8% or $6.50)on 16/9/20. My intention was more of show off rather than sell it. This betta drawn a lot of attention from betta hobbyists. I was surprised that someone bid the fish one day before closing. The buyer, Bryce Reynold , collected the betta on 25/9/20. I was happy to get the money but sad to part company with my most awesome fish i bred so far.

5th generation betta is born - 12/9/20

I tried to breed four pairs of 4th generation betta at the same time. I used two plastic containers with divider as i was short of aquarium heater. The four pairs were: 1) Green with white head 8 rays(6201) x Copper 4 rays. 2) Blue 8 rays (6202) x Blue 4 rays. 3) White with blue pattern (6204) x Copper 2 rays. 4) Blue 4 rays(6205) x Green(95%) 4 rays. On 12/9/20, i was so delighted to find out that all four pairs were bred successfully. Hooray! Praise the Lord!

4th generation betta - 23/8/20

This morning weather was a bit warmer, so i decided to take some photos on my 4th generation betta. They were about 2.5 months old. They were initially a bit camera shy and they began to flare after about 10 minutes. They were gorgeous and have 8 rays on their caudal fins. Praise the Lord!

Black Copper betta

My first copper betta didnt leave me any copper betta in his few spawns. So, i tried to inbreeding his siblings hoping that i might get copper betta. I managed to get two black copper male betta and several female copper betta. One of the black copper male betta has eight rays on caudal fin. Hurray!

Father n Son

I was devastated when i found that one of my favourite betta which has white base with random pattern in green went missing.  His body has never been found. To my surprise,  i found one betta in the new batch looks very much alike the one i lost one month later. I am sure he is the son of the betta i lost. Hurray, what a big relieve!

My favourite male betta in the first spawn.

My most favourite male betta is sky-blue betta. His pectoral fins are also in sky-blue colour, which makes him stand out from the rest. I have not breed him because of my coming South island trip. The second favourite betta is a monster; white face. Surprisingly,  his white face almost turned to green when he reached six months old. Also, i like this blue-red betta, which i originally have two,

but one already sold.

A new beginning

After i have stopped breeding betta for five years, i kicked start my betta breeding again in July 2019. Despite the high selling price of betta in NZ, there are not many beautiful betta available for sale
